WCAG 2.2 AA target ยท Calm Mode ยท Dyslexia-friendly text ยท High-contrast themes ยท Keyboard & touch ยท Free forever

Wibble is a family-safe games arcade for ages 6 and up, and we want it to be playable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet the WCAG 2.2 Level AA standard, and the comfort and accessibility options below are free for everyone โ€” never locked behind a subscription.

Accessibility features

Calm Mode (reduced motion)

One tap in the top bar turns on Calm Mode, which strips back the arcade's motion โ€” glows, particles, screen-shake, parallax and large transitions all settle down across the whole site and inside games. It is a deliberate superset of the system reduced-motion setting, so you can ask for less motion on Wibble even when your device is not set that way.

Dyslexia-friendly text

The Aa toggle switches the whole site to the Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface with larger text (never below 16px), a 1.5 line-height, more letter and word spacing, and left-aligned copy for a layout designed to be easier to read. It composes with any colour theme, so you can pair it with Calm or High-Contrast.

High-contrast & calm themes

Free one-tap themes include a High-Contrast theme designed for stronger text-to-background separation and a desaturated Calm theme that lowers visual intensity without washing out contrast โ€” alongside the dark default and a light Daybreak theme. Colour is never the only signal: states are paired with icons, shapes or text.

Keyboard and touch on every game

Every Wibble game is built to play with a keyboard and with touch or on-screen controls, and the in-game ๐Ÿ“– How to play panel lists both control schemes. Focus styles are visible so you can see where you are when moving with the keyboard.

Honours your system settings

Wibble respects the preferences your device already advertises: it follows prefers-color-scheme (opening in a light theme if your system is set to light), honours prefers-reduced-motion, and supports forced-colors / Windows High Contrast mode.

Accessibility is free, forever

Calm Mode, dyslexia-friendly text and the High-Contrast and Calm themes are free for everyone and are never locked behind Wibble Plus. Only decorative, cosmetic themes can ever be part of a subscription โ€” the things that help you read and play never will be.

Known limitations

We would rather be honest about where we are not there yet. We are actively working on these:

Give us feedback

Accessibility is never finished. If something was hard to use, tell us through the in-app Help & Feedback form โ€” say which game or page, what you were trying to do, and any assistive technology you use, and we will use it to prioritise fixes.

Accessibility questions & answers

Does Wibble meet WCAG accessibility standards?

Wibble is designed and built to target WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Contrast in each theme is checked against AA, colour is never used as the only signal, motion respects your settings, and every game supports keyboard and touch. AA is our goal and we are still closing gaps, so we welcome reports of anything that falls short.

Is there a reduced-motion or low-stimulation option?

Yes. Calm Mode turns down motion โ€” glows, particles, screen-shake and large transitions โ€” across the site and inside games, and there is a desaturated Calm theme that lowers visual intensity. Wibble also honours your device's prefers-reduced-motion setting automatically.

Is there a dyslexia-friendly or larger-text option?

Yes. The Aa toggle switches the whole site to the Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface with larger text, more spacing and left-aligned copy, and it works together with any colour theme.

Do accessibility features cost extra or need Wibble Plus?

No. Calm Mode, dyslexia-friendly text and the High-Contrast and Calm themes are free for everyone and are never part of a paid subscription.

How do I report an accessibility problem?

Please use the in-app Help & Feedback form to tell us what was hard to use and on which game or page โ€” accessibility reports help us prioritise fixes.
