What is Gigglenova?
Gigglenova is a free online space shooter game for kids where nobody gets hurt. You fly a little rocket called the Chucklecraft and tickle grumpy aliens until they giggle, pop into sparkles and zip home happy. It's a family-safe "cute-em-up" for ages 6 and up. It plays in your web browser on a computer, phone or tablet, with nothing to download.
The story is short and sweet. Old Mumbles, the sun of a faraway galaxy, has caught a cosmic cold. Without its warmth, the aliens of the Grumbleflock have come down with a bad case of the Cosmic Grumps. Captain Pip Sparkwhistle and their co-pilot, Nib the star-mouse, set off to cheer everyone up. Each sector starts out dusky grey, and every alien you pop brings back a little colour. When you clear a wave, the whole sky blooms back to full neon: "Colours back ON!"
Gigglenova is Wibble's first space game. When it launched in October 2026, it led the New row at the top of the games page.
How it plays in 30 seconds
Your Chucklecraft sends out tickle-bolts all by itself, so your only job is to steer. On a keyboard you fly with the arrow keys or W A S D. On a phone or tablet you drag anywhere on the screen, and the ship follows your finger without ever sitting under your thumb. With just one thing to do, a 6-year-old can pick it up straight away.
Older siblings and grown-ups still have plenty to master:
- Two kinds of Grump Globs. Round amber globs can be tickled into Glee Gems. Pink diamond globs can't, so you dodge them. Each colour always comes with its own shape, so players who find some colours hard to tell apart can go by the shape too.
- Focus. Hold Space to fly slower with tighter tickles. Focus also shows the small heart in your cockpit, which is the only part of the ship a glob can touch, so you can slip through narrow gaps.
- Belly Laugh. Press X, tap the Belly Laugh button or tap with a second finger, and every glob on screen turns into gems. A Cheer meter slowly earns your Belly Laughs back.
Build your own giggle machine: Ticklers, Charms and evolutions
Part of the fun is building a Chucklecraft that feels like yours. There are six Ticklers, and each one levels up from 1 to 5: Tickle Bolts, Giggle Spread, Chuckle Beam, Bubble Seekers, Kazoo Wave and Confetti Popper.
Glee Pods float down as you play. A Tickler Pod shows one Tickler's picture and name, and it never changes while it falls. Catch your own Tickler to level it up, or catch a different one to switch and keep your level. Other pods bring a Hug Bubble shield, Fizz Rush, Nap Time slow-motion, a Glee Magnet for gems, an extra Belly Laugh or an extra Smile.
After every boss you pick one of three Charms, with one free reroll. Examples include Bouncy Bolts, Star-Mouse Pals that orbit your ship, and Slowpoke Globs. Match a level-5 Tickler with its secret Charm and it evolves: Tickle Bolts become a Feather Flurry, Kazoo Wave becomes a Brass Band, and Confetti Popper becomes a Party Popper Parade. A ✨ badge marks the card that would evolve your current Tickler.
Then there's the Laugh Ladder. Pop aliens quickly in a row to climb from Giggle (×2) through Chuckle, Chortle and Guffaw up to BELLY LAUGH (×6 points).
Endless sectors, Captains and Grump Lords
Gigglenova never runs out. Every sector has three waves of alien formations that the game makes fresh each time, a fourth wave led by a Captain mini-boss, and then a Grump Lord boss with several phases. After that a new, freshly named sector opens up. There is no final level, and each sector gets a little trickier than the last.
The Grumbleflock are a funny bunch: puffing Huffpuffs, looping Sulkstars, Grumbrellas hiding under umbrellas, and Splitzles that split into smaller Splitzles. The six Grump Lords each have their own personality: Gloomsby the Raincloud, Mopetron Mk-9, Pouticus the Proud, Big Huff, Crankshaft Grumbolt and the twin Fussbuckets. The deeper you go, the more they come back in remixed moods with new moves, sometimes wearing a party hat, a top hat or a paper crown.
Two special stages mix things up. Every fifth sector, the Captain wave is replaced by a Sparkle Trail. There's no tickling at all: you fly through ribbons of gems and rescue the friendly Fizzlings. Every twelfth sector, the boss is Old Mumbles, the sleepy sun, and your job is to warm it back up.
Fair by design: every boss move is announced
Gigglenova is built to avoid unfair surprises. Before any move, the aliens wiggle, swell or wind up first, and bosses give a clear warning before each pattern, such as a dashed warning line or sparkle markers showing the safe gaps. Bosses also leave a short calm moment between moves. You're rewarded for reading patterns and moving a beat early, not for frantic button-mashing.
Touching a glob doesn't end the game. You just go Soggy: you lose a Smile and a Tickler level, the Laugh Ladder resets, and you get a couple of seconds of safety while nearby globs turn into gems. When you run out of Smiles the run is over, and a new one is only a tap away.
The first sector works as a gentle tutorial, and no boss round drags on forever. If a boss phase lasts too long, the boss gets "giggly" and becomes easier to cheer up. Any aliens left over at the end of a long wave float home on their own.
What Gigglenova gives kids a chance to practise
Here's the honest version. Gigglenova is a game, and its first job is to be fun. Along the way it also gives a few useful skills a friendly workout:
- Hand-eye coordination and visual tracking. You steer a tiny ship through drifting globs while lining up your tickles.
- Splitting your attention. You keep an eye on where the danger is and where your target is at the same time.
- Pattern reading. You spot the wiggle or the dashed line and move early.
- Planning ahead. You choose Charms that build toward an evolution.
- Bouncing back. Going Soggy costs only a little, so it's easy practice at shaking off a mistake and carrying on.
Because the game saves at every wave, one or two sectors make a tidy, upbeat break with a natural place to stop.
Calm settings, comfort options and easy controls
- Three difficulties. Cadet gives you 5 Smiles, gentler globs and a free Hug Bubble each sector. Pilot is the classic flight with 3 Smiles. Ace is faster and tougher and pays ×1.4 points.
- Calm Mode. Wibble's Calm Mode turns off screen shake, flashes and particle bursts, and the scrolling background holds still. Even with Calm Mode off, flashes are soft, cool-toned and kept to a minimum, and there are no red flashes. If your child is sensitive to flashing lights or busy motion, switch Calm Mode on before they play.
- Keyboard, mouse or touch. On-screen key hints show the right keys for your computer, Mac or PC. On touch screens you can choose a 1.0× or 1.3× drag speed.
- Saves as you go. Your progress saves at every wave. If you close the tab or lock your phone, the game greets you next time (on the same device and browser) with "Your Chucklecraft is parked at…", and you just tap Continue to pick up from the start of the wave you were on.
- Pause anytime. Press Esc or the ⏸ Pause button and everything freezes. When you come back, the game picks up exactly where it stopped, with nothing having moved on without you.
- Watch the demo. Not sure yet? Tap 🎬 Watch the demo to see Captain Pip fly on their own. There's a 🐢 Slow speed for a closer look.
- Plain-words help. The in-game 📖 How to play and 💡 Why play panels explain the rules and the benefits simply.
