Play Checkers Online
👨👩👧👦 Family-friendly · ages 6+
Checkers on Wibble is real, full-rules English draughts you can play in your browser with no download. The engine enforces every rule — diagonal moves, forced captures, chained multi-jumps, and kings that move both directions — so games are always correct. Play against an AI opponent that starts gentle for beginners and climbs an endless ladder of harder bots, each one looking further ahead, so there is always a fair challenge whatever your level. Prefer a human? Switch to pass-and-play and take turns with a friend on the same device. Capture all your opponent's pieces (or leave them with no move) to win and raise your rating, which is saved to the leaderboard. It is free, family-safe, and plays on any phone or tablet — tap or drag to move.

How to play Checkers
- Pick an opponent: the AI ladder (choose a starting strength, it climbs as you win) or pass-and-play for two people on one device.
- Tap or click one of your pieces to select it — the squares it can legally move to light up.
- Move diagonally to an empty dark square, or jump over an adjacent enemy piece to capture it.
- When a capture is available you must take it, and if another jump continues from the landing square you keep jumping — chain the whole multi-jump.
- Reach the far row to crown a king (it moves and jumps both forwards and backwards). Capture all the enemy pieces, or block their last move, to win and climb the rating ladder.
💡 How it helps you
Checkers (English draughts) looks simple but rewards real thinking, which is exactly what makes it such a good brain workout for all ages. Every turn asks you to look ahead: if I jump here, can my opponent jump me back — and is there a longer chain of captures I'm missing? Spotting multi-jumps and setting traps trains foresight, sequencing and pattern recognition, the same planning skills that help with maths and tackling a problem step by step. Because pieces are forced to capture when they can, checkers also teaches you to count consequences before you move, and a lost piece is never the end — it's the next puzzle, which builds calm resilience. Wibble's checkers enforces the full rules (forced captures, chained multi-jumps, kings that move both ways) and gives you an AI ladder that starts gentle for beginners and climbs forever, so there's always a fair, winnable game and a tougher opponent waiting. You can also pass-and-play a friend on one device. It's free, browser-based, plays on any phone, and your rating climbs as you beat stronger bots.
Good for: planning ahead, sequencing & pattern recognition.
